Content is King
Content syndication is one of the most powerful things you can do to promote your blog and get new patients breaking down the doors to get to your office. It’s also the best way to get in the top three search engine rankings.
If you are new to the “blogosphere” world, you may be wondering what I’m talking about. A simple way to describe content syndication would be you sharing your posts and articles with other like minded people with similar blog/websites (also known as niches). For dentists that specialize in cosmetic dentistry, you could syndicate to bridal blogs for whitening and veneers, to blogs that feature baby boomers who may have the money to get cosmetic treatment done. If you are a pediatric dentist you could syndicate to any blog relating to children.
Content Syndication Increases the flow of traffic to you blog or website
There are many benefits to syndicating your content. Let’s talk about a few of them. Syndicating your content will increase the flow of traffic to your blog. How exactly does that work you may ask. When you post a comment on someone else’s blog, you are reaching their audience (or list) as well as making a comment. They may have thousands of followers who read their blog posts. If you have an attention-grabbing comment, the person reading the information may decide that what you wrote was interesting and want to check out your latest blog post, thus creating a flow of traffic to your blog that you would not get otherwise.
Branding “You”
Content Syndication allows you to share your information on blogs that are within your area of expertise, helping to establish you as an expert and “branding” you. When you do this regularly, visitors to these other sites begin to recognize you, what you are about, what you do etc… “Branding” you. Being recognized in your area of expertise is huge – creating your personal brand is something you should be working on continuously.
Having many streams of traffic coming from other blogs and websites that you have syndicated creates more comments, sharing of ideas, basically creating a community of people who frequently interact with each other. Why is this good? Search Engines love community – they love popular blogs. This will help you attain higher search engine rankings which will open the doors to even more traffic!
Here are a few ways to help you get the word out and increase the Traffic Flow to your Blog:
Article Submission is one of the fastest ways to attract traffic to your blog. Writing articles about your niche and submitting them to article submission sites will quickly help you increase your search engine rankings. You can write about anything your niche may find interesting – Sedation Dentistry, New Advances in Cosmetic Dentistry, The New Dental Face Lift – the great thing is this will drive traffic to your blog and it doesn’t cost a thing!
Social Media is becoming an easy and inexpensive way to stay in touch with your patients AND attract new patients. By utilizing Facebook and Twitter you establish yourself as a “human”. Your patients love to know about you and your family, your staff, what’s new at the office etc… Developing relationships is key as we know, and Social Media is an excellent way to do that.
Make sure your blog has “RSS” – Really Simple Syndication. If you already have an RSS feed on your blog a simple way to get the information is to right click on the link and then you can copy the link location. This will show your RSS feed address and you can use this to connect with Facebook and Twitter, making syndicating that much easier.
The first thing you will want to do is set up a Feedburner account which will allow you to share your feed with multiple sites. Once you have done that, you can submit your RSS feed to hundreds of RSS Feed directories. This can be done manually, or you can also purchase software that will submit your Feed to many different feeds all at one time.
A couple of tools available to help you save time and syndicate to your blog as well as Facebook and Twitter through your RSS feed are Twitterfeed, Social Oomph and HootSuite.
Social Book Marking is another way to syndicate your information. Submitting to sites like Delicious, Reddit, Stumble Upon and Linked In is a great way to get backlinks to your blog. Getting backlinks is a crucial step to getting ranked on the search engines. The more backlinks you have, the more popular the search engines think you are.
Belong to a Content Syndication Group. This is a new concept that is all the buzz in syndication. Usually that entails getting together with people in your niche and then committing to syndicate their posts and they will syndicate yours. This is an incredible way to get to know other people in your niche, to network and to syndicate.
Syndicating your content is the most powerful way to drive traffic to your blog or website. When you share your information, it creates a “buzz” around your site that will continue to grow and eventually grow viral if you do this on a consistent basis. The great thing is search engines love syndication so doing this will increase your ranking considerably.

First, let me say how much I like your blog’s makeover! It looks really great.
I love how you are reaching out to dentists in this post and letting them know how to go about getting involved in the social media world. I imagine many of your colleagues in the dental profession appreciate you and this blog for its content. Interestingly, more and more dentists are jumping on board with Social Media. I think they are realizing that the old school ways of advertising are dying and they need to do something different. People no longer use a telephone book to find a dentist, they Google them! Being in the top 3 of the search engine rankings is critical and as you know Social Media is a great way to get you there! I know your blog is specific to dentists, but I’m repeatedly finding value that any business could use. And this post is a perfect example. Too many businesses are using an older model to reach clients/patients. They might be okay for now, but eventually they’ll be left in the dust as potential business turns to others who have built a reputation through the concepts you suggest.

You have really done a great job here of breaking down content syndication in it’s simplest forms. Local companies have alot to gain if they make an effort to tap into these marketing methods. If I had unlimited time I would do SEO and content syndication for every friend and family member’s businesses but unfortunately… that’s not the case.
